Michael
Wilson, often called the world’s funniest comic-impressionist,
overwhelms his audience with his dead-on impressions of the world’s
most famous celebrities. The audience roars with delight, as Michael
transforms himself into the most beloved characters from the big to
the small screen. His marquee characters include the entire cast of
Seinfeld, Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock, Adam Sandler, Christian Slater,
Lou Costello, Garth Brooks, Louie Armstrong, Minnie Ripperton, Joe
Cocker, the Bee Gees, and hundreds more.
Michael Wilson always knew he was going to be a comedian. It’s
like it was his destiny to make people laugh. He did it on the elevator
in the supermarket, at the barbershop. He couldn’t help himself
he really loves to see the look on someone’s face when you surprise
him or her. And that is what comedy is, the shock you get when the
unanticipated punch line hits. He also has the uncommon talent of
mimicry. Very few people hear how they sound to themselves. He sounds
exactly how he hears it. That is how he can impersonate literally
anyone in the world. Mike can currently do about 700 voices and that
is a conservative estimate because he learns a new voice literally
as soon as he hears it. Figuring out what voices particular crowds
want to hear, that’s the tricky part. He plays corporate shows,
cruise ships, comedy clubs, golf tournaments, rock concerts, and colleges.
One has to be as flexible as a gymnast to pull all that off.
The show has been a hit for years incorporating straight stand-up,
impressions, creative songs, and improvisation.
His training at the world famous SECOND CITY IMPROV SCHOOL
(Who has had such greats as Phil Hartman, Jim Belushi, and Mike’s
old friend, Chris Farley).
His first break was at nineteen when he won the Funniest Comic in
Florida, (his very first comedy competition) in his first national
contest, He was runner up in the IMPROV’S NATIONAL COMEDY SEARCH.
This is where he first met Budd Friedman, owner of the Improv Comedy
Chain. He still has a close working rapport with Budd, and wishes
his busy schedule would allow him to work more comedy clubs, but his
corporate performances and cruise ship contracts as well as hosting
at celebrity golf tournaments, keeps him extremely busy. He’s
co-hosted the prestigious Alice Cooper Celebrity Golf Tournament with
Seinfeld’s John O’Hurly for the last 6 years, and in 2005
he won the tournament. He also had the pleasure to host The Alice
Cooper Christmas Christmas Pudding Concert with Damn Yankees, Tommy
Shaw, Cheap Trick, Gin Blossoms, Glenn Campbell, Sinbad, Ted Nugent,
and many more. Over 4000 crowded the theatre, and they had such a
blast. Dan Quayle was on the front row and actually got most of the
jokes. (Mike was impressed)
Two years ago, Michael was asked by the legendary Casey Kasem, if
he would be one the hosts at DVD release party for the Oscar winning
film, CHICAGO, he was happy to oblige it was also the St. Jude’s
Children’s Hospital’s “Runway for Life” event
which brought out all the a-list Hollywood stars, he walked the red
carpet with his date, his good friend, former ‘Miss America’
Carolyn Sapp. The show went off without a hitch at the opulent Beverly
Hills Hotel. It made up for all the crummy one niters in West Virginia
he had done.
He’s been very fortunate in some of the gigs he’s picked
up, aside from all the corporate events he gets to perform at in Las
Vegas, Lake Tahoe, and Palm Springs, sometimes he gets to do ‘one
of a kind’ events. In 1998,he performed at the Final Episode
Cast Party for number one rated sitcom of all time! SEINFELD. He performed
at the ‘world famous’ Palace Theatre in Hollywood. It
was a scintillating event with all major networks covering the occasion.
It was his first time to appear on CNN. Mike was quoted as saying,
“I never thought in a million years I would be on CNN unless
I was on a slow speed chase in a white Bronco”.
One of his close friends, Patrick Warburton (David Puddy) from Seinfeld,
currently starring on the hit CBS show “Rules Of Engagement”,
hosted E!’s celebrity poker show Hollywood Hold’em at
his house, Mike played on the show with Patrick, Deadwood’s
Robin Weigert, Alice in Chain’s cofounder and lead guitarist,
Jerry Cantrell, and eccentric actor, Eric Roberts.
Mike went all the way to the end with Robin and lost on a bad beat.
Still he had fun. Second place was okay, although he would have loved
to have won the 10K for his favorite charity SOLID ROCK FOUNDATION
of Phoenix.
Mike is currently headlining the largest cruise ships in the world
for Royal Caribbean, Princess, and Celebrity Cruise lines. It’s
enjoyable on the ships and the shows are with a full 9 nine-piece
orchestra. It is exciting for him to play these mammoth theatres on
these mega-ships, take my word on this, this is show business like
Vegas was in the sixties. Everybody’s in tuxes and formal gowns
and they are out to see a SHOW!
So go see Michael Wilson, he will leave a lasting impression on you!
